Jake grew up all over the place but calls Colorado Springs home. He’s kind, thoughtful, talented and smart. He’s a drummer, actor, narrator, and has a HUGE future ahead of him. If he finally picks something and goes for it ;)
Jake was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes when he was four years old. He wasn’t unhealthy, it wasn’t genetic, it was just luck of the draw. I’ve never seen Jake as “a diabetic”. He’s never labeled himself as someone less than capable as anyone else and he’s not! If anything his autoimmune disease has given him compassion and determination.
Jake grew up with some rad kids and started a band in middle school. From middle school to college he’d play local gigs with his band. He’s played several gigs for JDRF a research foundation for diabetes.
“Beautiful Disaster” was the phrase originally coined by her father and is the perfect summation of Brittany.
Brittany has an adventurous, spontaneous, and lively soul. Her passion for nature, art, and photography drives her from place to place, seeking life’s next pure thrill. Her ideas for our life are as limitless as her creative imagination and as large as her heart. There are no limitations for her, only potential. She does not walk; she runs, usually leaving me struggling to keep up — but always enjoying the pace. It’s up to me to try my best to keep her grounded along our crazy, exciting ride. To her, life’s greatest ecstasy is in her hammock with the comfort of her favorite book, Harry Potter.
Britt was born and raised in Eastern Idaho where she became a nationally ranked, level 10 gymnast. She served as a missionary in Guayaquil, Ecuador from August 2015 to February 2017, where she learned Spanish and developed a tremendous love for the people of Ecuador. We met shortly thereafter and bonded over our unparalleled love of peanut butter.
Most of all, Brittany has the divine gift to see beauty in the ashes. To The Beautiful Disaster, colors are more vivid. People, nature, and all that lies between have beauty.
We also like to laugh at how funny it is we ended up together. You couldn’t put two more different people together. She’s a morning person, I’m a night owl. Somehow we make it work. Our favorite phrase we share is, “I Choose You” because we’ve learned that love is a choice each moment of each day.
So hold on tight as we follow my life’s perfect little Beautiful Disaster.
